New Zealand 5 day East Cape 4WD tour (Nth Island)
We stay at the Matawai pub for the first and last nights of the trip, it's a real old country pub with all sorts of memorabilia in the bar from the days when it was the main stop off in the droving days right up to the late '60's.
The East Cape is home to some of the oldest High Country Stations in the North Island, mustering is still carried out on horseback amongst the jaw droppingly beautiful streams and rivers which start in the Urewera Ranges and cross the whole area out to some of New Zealands most famous coastline.
Rugged Peaks such as Whakapunaki, ( 3000ft. ), Tutamoe, Rakawhia and the famous Mount Hikurangi ( which saw the first light of the new millennium), dominate huge river valleys that run back up into the Urewera Mountains.
We will climb Whakapunaki and Tutamoe to their summits, we will explore the incomparable beauty of the Ruakituri valley and the Ruakituri River which has 80Km of fishable river bed and we will stay a night on the coast at Tolaga Bay, one of New Zealands iconic beaches.
Included in the trip fee, accomodation, evening meals at Matawai pub, cafe or similar at Tolaga Bay, all food for evening meals at Hangaroa and Ruakituri nights which are camp or shearers quarters. Food for lunches and breakfasts will be supplied buffet style help yourself in the remote areas of the trip and breakfasts will be at Matawai pub Day 1 and Tolaga Bay Cafe Day 4, so in summary all food. Also included in the trip price, all station crossing fees, guide and recovery vehicle.

This trip is lead by Steve Beston the NZ equivalent of Vic Widman, some say they even look alike!!
The trip starts in Matawai at the end of the old coach road which is the gateway to the uniquely beautiful landscape of the East Cape of New Zealand’s North Island.
Refund Policy
Tour/Driver Training Deposits are non refundable unless your position can be filled, the deposit may be transferred to another date/tour or course.
Fees are payable from 1 week to 4 weeks prior to the tour/course, you will be advised when the fee is payable. Any cancellation by you after the due date for the full fee will result in forfeiture of your tour fee.
